Thai fashion on show in Italy

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin leads by example in all affairs related to strengthening the Kingdom’s soft power abroad.

The head of the Thai government spent last week in Italy, walking along the streets of Milan and Rome in thoughtful attire incorporating traditional Thai accessories and clothing.

PM Srettha met with Italian designers, presenting them with beautiful examples of Thai textiles, showcasing a promising field for future collaboration.

“Who is interested in fabric like the ones on me? You can buy them at the OTOP Center of Amnat Charoen Province in Bangkok. They are available at King Power or for online orders at the Nuchba OTOP Facebook page,” PM Srettha encouraged on his social media pages.

PM Srettha was seen wearing similar shirts from other Thai provinces while visiting Italian design and art museums, the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari racing track, and even a cheese factory in Parma.

As part of his Italian trip, PM Srettha made a stop at the Thainess Station in Rinascente Mall in Milan, where Thai fashion items are available for sale.

PM Srettha also visited Ermenegildo Zegna’s fabric production facility, introducing natural indigo-dyed Don Koi fabric from Sakon Nakhon. In addition to their own products, Zegna provides fabrics to Hermes, Dior, LV, and other renowned brands.

“While Zegna is renowned internationally for fine textiles, Thailand could offer high-quality raw materials, such as Thai silk for the fabrication of products under the Zegna brand in the future,” the Thai Prime Minister said.

Finally, PM Srettha visited the Versace boutique and the brand’s headquarters to discuss hosting more Versace events in Thailand and accepting fashion interns from Thailand in Italy.
